Paint Questions
What is the best pitch marking paint for GAA pitches in Ireland?
The most popular choice for GAA clubs across Ireland is Clubline White — bright, weather-resistant and marks up to 4 full-size pitches per 10L. For match pitches or higher standards, Lumen White (5 pitches per 10L) or Extreme White (6 pitches per 10L) deliver greater brightness and durability.
Do I need to mix pitch marking paint with water?
It depends on the paint. Concentrate paints (Elements 4:1, Clubline, Lumen, Extreme) must be mixed with water before use. Ready-to-use paints (Direct, Edge, Ecoline+) are used straight from the container — no mixing required.
How many pitches does a 10L container of pitch marking paint mark?
- Elements 4:1 — up to 4 pitches
- Clubline White — up to 4 pitches
- Lumen White — up to 5 pitches
- Extreme White — up to 6 pitches
- Direct — up to 3 pitches (ready to use)
- Edge — up to 3 pitches (ready to use)
- Ecoline+ — up to 6 pitches (atomising, 1.5L per pitch)
What is the dilution ratio for Pitchmark concentrate paints?
- Elements 4:1 — 2.5L paint to 4L water per pitch
- Clubline White — 2.5L paint to 4L water per pitch
- Lumen White — 2L paint to 4.5L water per pitch
- Extreme White — 1.5L paint to 5L water per pitch
Is pitch marking paint safe for grass?
Yes — all Pitchmark paints are water-based, biodegradable and safe for natural grass. They will not damage your pitch surface.
Can I use pitch marking paint on artificial grass?
Pitchmark paints are formulated for natural grass. For artificial surfaces, please contact us to discuss the best option for your surface type.
How long do pitch lines last after marking?
- Elements 4:1 / Clubline — 5–7 days (weather and traffic dependent)
- Lumen White — 6–8 days
- Extreme White — 7–10 days
- Ecoline+ — 6–9 days
What paint do I need for a Turf Tank robotic marker?
Edge is the recommended paint for Turf Tank, Tiny Robot and FJ Dynamics robotic line markers. Its anti-clog formulation ensures uninterrupted lines throughout the full autonomous marking cycle.
What is the difference between Clubline and Lumen?
Both are concentrate paints for natural grass. Lumen is brighter and more durable, marks one extra pitch per 10L (5 vs 4) and holds its colour longer between applications. Clubline is the everyday choice; Lumen is the upgrade for match pitches.
Is Ecoline+ really used in the Premier League?
Yes — Ecoline+ is the preferred pitch marking paint of professional grounds teams in the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
How do I cover white pitch lines when switching sports?
Line-Out Green is a green concentrate paint that covers existing white lines and blends with natural grass. Mix 2L paint with 4L water and apply over the white lines. Once dry, mark new lines on top.
Nozzle & Machine Questions
What nozzle do I need for my spray marker?
- Clubline, Lumen, Elements 4:1 — Green Flat Fan Nozzle (F110-015)
- Extreme White — Yellow Flat Fan Nozzle (F110-020) recommended (Green also compatible)
- Ecoline+ — Green Misting Nozzle or compatible stainless steel nozzle
- Edge / Direct — Stainless steel or hollow cone nozzle (NOT flat fan)
Are flat fan nozzles compatible with all paints?
No — flat fan nozzles are for concentrate paints (Clubline, Lumen, Extreme, Elements 4:1) only. Edge, Direct and Ecoline+ require stainless steel or misting nozzles and are NOT compatible with standard flat fan nozzles.
How often should I replace my nozzles?
Nozzles should be inspected regularly and replaced when line quality deteriorates or the spray pattern becomes uneven. For clubs marking 2–3 times per week, replacing nozzles once per season is recommended. See our spare parts range.
What machines is Edge paint compatible with?
Edge is compatible with Turf Tank, Tiny Robot, FJ Dynamics PRO/RM21/RLM02 MINI (robotic), and all Pitchmark pedestrian spray markers, Fleet Kombi, Zehnder, and most standard spray line markers.
