A Versatile, High-Purity Liquid Solution with Multiple Industrial, Agricultural and Laboratory Applications.

This 25% Ammonium Sulphamate Solution is a clear, colourless liquid supplied ready to use at full concentration. Known under a wide range of trade and chemical names — including AMS, Amicide, Ammate and Ikurin — it is a well-established compound used across composting, fire protection, laboratory and industrial applications.

Please note: This product is not for human or animal consumption. Not sold or advertised for use as a herbicide within the EU.

Applications & Uses

🌿 Compost Accelerator
Ammonium sulphamate is particularly effective at breaking down tough, woody and fibrous plant material that is slow to decompose in a conventional compost heap — brambles, hedge clippings, woody stems and similar material. It accelerates the natural rotting process, helping you turn difficult garden waste into usable compost more quickly.

Treated compost should not be used for at least 3 months to allow sufficient time for the ammonium sulphamate to fully break down.

🪵 Tree Stump Decomposition
Speeds up the natural rotting of dead tree stumps, reducing the need for costly mechanical removal.

For best results, drill holes into the stump before applying the solution to allow deeper penetration.

🔥 Flame Retardant
Used as a flame-retardant treatment across a range of materials and applications.

🔬 Laboratory Reagent
Widely used as a reagent in laboratory and research settings.

⚙️ Industrial Uses

  • Plasticiser in manufacturing processes
  • Used in the printing industry
  • Applied in electroplating processes

EU Legislation Notice

Ammonium sulphamate was historically used as a herbicide to control tough woody weeds, tree stumps, and brambles. However, in 2008 the EU removed its approval as a registered herbicide under pesticide legislation. This product is therefore not sold or advertised for herbicidal use within the EU. Its availability and use as a compost accelerator and for all other listed applications is entirely unaffected by this legislation.
